The Apple IPAD is here, and if ever a controversial gadget that is it. We met up with Apple last week to pick up one of the few iPad can be in the wild early and have played with it since then. Already the subject of countless discussions, arguments and parody – not least because of what they do, but as what she is really capable of – there is also a reluctant expectation that if someone can make tablets extremely popular, it’s likely Apple . So, the IPAD to live up to its promise, or is this really just an oversized iPod touch too big (and expensive) for your pocket? Read the full review SlashGear after the cut.
We are a long way from the days when half of the included Apple accessories that you ever need in the box with your new device. In the IPAD, there is a USB to dock connector cable, AC adapter, which plugs directly into a wall outlet, and some sparse documentation. Most conspicuously absent is Apple’s white headphones Regulation, which will come with even the lowest iPod, though, given their poor quality, it would the first thing that we proposed have been renewed anyway.
The IPAD itself takes the design concept of a blackboard and cook it on pretty much the bare minimum. Measuring 9.56 x 7.47 x 0.50 inches and tipped the scales at 1.5 kilograms, the front is basically all glass and the back all brushed aluminum. Apple has always been controlled for reduction to ports and hardware, but this is perhaps IPAD a new extreme. Up top there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, hold a discrete microphone and the POWER / LOCK key while the volume rocker and the freezing of a switch, automatic screen rotation on the right. The speakers are small and standard 30-pin dock connector including proprietary, while an ambient light sensor lurking almost invisibly under the glass fascia.
