Cook Dinner Three Times Faster with a Halogen Oven
A halogen oven can cook food faster and more evenly than a conventional oven, producing delicious meals in about a third of the time. The food will be browned but not dried out, retaining its flavourful juices. While the cooking is happening, the food will be fully visible through a clean, clear glass front, allowing you to remove it at exactly the right stage of browning.
Halogen bulbs put out a bright light, but they also give off a lot of heat. This is one of the chief objections to using them for lighting, since they can pose a fire hazard in some settings. However, what is an objection in one situation can be an advantage in another, and if heat is what you need, you couldn’t find a better source than a halogen bulb.
The bulb in a halogen oven heats up very quickly, bringing the temperature inside to cooking level much more quickly than an old-style oven. This is important, since most of the cooking time with a conventional oven is spent just waiting for the heating element to raise the temperature enough for cooking to start. The actual cooking can only happen when this temperature is reached.
Unlike microwaves, the heat from a halogen bulb will brown the food, but without some way to circulate the heat around it, the side facing away from the halogen bulb would remain un-browned. To remedy this, halogen ovens also use a fan to circulate hot air on all sides of the food, resulting in even cooking.
Since the cooking takes place so quickly, there is little chance of the food getting dry or burned. If you pay attention to the food and pull it from the oven as soon as it gets done, it should still be moist and tasty. These ovens get great reviews from most users because the juices stay in the food, giving a full, rich flavour.
Once available only through TV offers, halogen ovens are now becoming easier to find. Because they work so well and so easily, they are sure to become the next big thing in kitchen appliances.
