HTC HD mini Unveiled

It is the last of a trio of HTC’s devices MWC 2010 and, dare we say it, perhaps it is least expected. Nevertheless, HTC HD mini version will have the great potential to grab a few new followers, equipped the capacitive touch screen festures of the very hot HD2.0 shrunk down in a far more pocket-friendly package. Check out our unboxing video and some shots compared to the HD2.0, and a few first impressions after the cut.

Windows type Mobile 6.6 – even with HTC Sense UI – do not get much attention these days, especially with Windows 7 Phone on the horizon, and it should be noted that there was no chance of an official upgrade for the HD-WP7 Mini. Not only that its 600MHz processor and 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen HVGA beyond the minimum requirements, it has the wrong keys. Still, make no sense WinMo a more pleasant place to be, and the mini-HD is certainly easier to control single-handed than the broad, flat HD2.

Build quality is high, with the slightly elastic rubber core board (hiding a lively yellow-job) Importance of the Mini HD does not slide around the desk or your hands. The HVGA display, mind, is a disappointment when set next to the HD2 the screen looks grainy in places and means that every website has called in the browser, if you have a chance to read the text be zoomed. Menu bars at the bottom appear to occupy more space than ever before, as the on-screen keyboard, even though they disappear into the browser, at least, if left untouched.

Despite not using the 1GHz Snapdragon processor from its bigger brother, the Mini-HD seems fairly quick and NRP between apps without delay. We’ll see if that remains the case when it is loaded down with e-mail, news media and, of course, for the full review. Nevertheless, when looking gloss for a compact business device with excellent bakery in Exchange support, and HTC, then the HD looks like it could be your mini best bet. The full SlashGear review will be soon, but until then the video unboxing and hands-on gallery below enjoy.
