It was revealed that Californian tech giant—Apple shifted more than 300000 iPads on the tablet computer’s first day on the sale. The shars of the company remained level, however, after hitting record highs last week in anticipation of the product launch.
The numbers were similar to the original iPhone’s first day of sale. But iPad sales included pre-orders, leading technology and finance analysts to question the effectiveness of Apple’s superhype around the iPad.
Hardcore fans of Apple were quick to figure out that this was a US-only launch and that an upgraded 3G version is due to go on sale next month. These factors may have greatly affected the first-day sales.
Analysts from Wall Street expected the company to sell around 5 million units across the world within a year. However it depends on Apple securing sales from the as-yet-uninitiated and its legion of devoted worshippers.
